The Corona Cork Film Festival is going to take place in Cork City from November 11th to the 16th.
Created in 1956, the event now takes an important place in the world of film festivals.
The program includes a wide range of movies, you will find big budget movies, short films, documentaries, independent films, and of course this festival will shed light on movies of Irish production.
Ever since it was created the film festival has slowly gained a reputation with more and more international films, movies with a big budget, and prestigious guests.
During this week you will have screenings throughout the city at a reasonable price. There will be a number of activities planned by the festival that you can discover below.
Prices: Screenings Cork Opera House = 10€/9€; Screenings after 6pm = 9€/8€; Screenings before 6pm = 6€/5€
Wednesday 14th of November:
Monahan Road Business Park 3pm – 6pm: An in-depth look at the latest Canon broadcast and cinema technology. This is an invaluable opportunity to see and hear from industry experts. Free admission Monahan Road, Cork.
Thursday 15th of November:
Triskel Arts Centre 10am – 11:30am: An opportunity for those interested in the art of documentary film making to engage with some of the most innovative practitioners in the industry. Guests will include film-makers whose documentaries will screen at this year’s festival. Free admission
Triskel Arts Centre 2pm – 4pm: A little workshop on the use of new technologies related to ‘Green Screen’ and ‘Grading’ in TV and Filming.
Cork Opera House Festival Club 7pm – 9pm : this is the occasion to make contacts with the world of cinema ! If you want to meet professionals from the film industry come to this event where you will have 2 min with each person, this is “speed networking”. Free admission
Friday 16th of November:
Triskel Arts Centre 9:30am – 11am: Dollhouse is a movie with characters created by the Actors and Director, shot in continuity without a script, genuine reaction techniques and an unknown plot until the moment of reveal, Dollhouse is film-making at its most creative. This is an exclusive opportunity to examine innovative film-making with cast and crew. Admission 25€
Triskel Arts Centre 11:30am – 1pm: discussion of particular interest to film-makers making the daunting transition from shorts to features. The main subject will be screen writing
Triskel Arts Centre 2pm – 3:30pm: discussion on Film directing
Triskel Arts Centre 4pm – 5:30pm: discussion on the vital role of the Producer in the film making process and the elusive area of Distribution. (The 3 discussions for 25€)
Saturday 17th of November:
Triskel Christchurch 12pm – 3pm: this is the occasion to meet some of the best Irish film-makers and to learn more on their job.
