After 4 months as an intern in Cork, it has come time for me to say goodbye. Goodbye is not the real word because I know I will come back in my future, I just don’t know when or for which reasons. Still I’ll miss many things of my Irish life in France and even If I’m happy to go back to Wine and Baguette country, I’m sad to leave everything I’ve discovered here.
During these 4 months, I’ve met amazing people that I would have never met in other occasion, I’ve drank more beer than in my entire life I guess, I’ve learned to enjoy Irish music. Cork is a city that you always remember in your life, because it stays as a mark in your brain and the people that you meet here are most of the time very friendly (maybe more in the evenings for the reasons that you know). Writing articles about Ireland every week was a really interesting task for me because you have to visit the surroundings of Cork to find content to write about each week.
I’ll finish this story by telling you my favourites things to do if you’re in Cork for a day, a week, a month, a semester or an undefined period.
– Having a Guinness at Oliver Plunkett and listen to Irish music
– Having a Sunday hangover breakfast at Tony’s bistro
– Taking some rest in Kinsale James Fort
– Being fascinated by the beauty of Old Head at Kinsale
– Travel back in time in Blarney Castle
– Eating the best pizza of cork with home made brew beer at Franciscan Well
– Trying to find the seal in River Lee
– Discovering what Ireland has the to offer (Cliffs of Moher, Ring of Kerry, Dingle, Connemara lakes…)
– Visit Jameson Distillery and enjoy the final degustation
– Attending a hurling game at Parc Ui Rinn
– And finally watching all the best champions league games at the Woolshed on a big screen
Now that you know all the best things “for me” to do in Cork, you just have to come here to try them too or to find your own!
