The city of Cork is a place full of interests but if you have time and have a particular sunny day or a day-off and that you want to discover a bit more the county of Cork, here are some nice spots that you should visit.
Cobh: 30 min by car, 30 minutes by train from Kent station
Cobh is coastal city near Cork City. It is known as the last stop of the Titanic before the tragic accident in 1912 (by the way there is museum about Titanic’s history in the city). Also the city is wonderful because of its many coloured houses and for the gigantic cathedral that is one of the highest in Ireland.
Kinsale: 30 min by car, 50 minutes by bus from Parnell Place bus station
Kinsale is a port in the South of Ireland and also a famous touristic station for many Irish people. The city is known for its great restaurants and for its art galleries. It’s also a great place for sports like Fishing, Sailing and Golf. Finally, the city has much history and you can try to return in the past by visiting his two forts: James Fort & Charles Fort.
Blarney: 15 min by car, 30 min by bus from Parnell Place bus station
This typical Irish village is situated in the North countryside of Cork. It’s famous especially for its castle that welcomes each year lots of tourists and where many kiss the Blarney stone (the legend said that to get the gift of eloquence you have to climb to the top of the tower and to kiss the stone with the head under). It’s also a great place for shopping.
Ballycotton: 40 min by car, 1h25 by bus from Parnell Place bus station
Ballycotton is a seaside town, really famous as a fishing village in the past. From the city centre you can see two beautiful almost empty islands (there is a lighthouse in the second one). And finally the cliff crosswalk is a great way to discover the area when the weather is fine. It’s the perfect place to resource yourself and to forget all your problems at least for an afternoon.
Inchydoney: 55 min by car, 1h10 by bus from Parnell Place bus station
It’s an island in the south county of Cork connected by two causeways. The place has a huge beach and is one of the most famous south Ireland surf spots. It brings every week many young people in search of waves and people look for beach horseback riding.
Now that you know all of this, we just have to wish you the best moments in these areas from all EazyCity team.
