Summer is coming and it is the perfect time to organize the first barbecue at home or in a park. Nowadays, many people organize barbecues in their house but we do not always make the BBQ we dream. It is possible to make it in many different places.
We can organize a barbecue in the garden of our property but we can also go to a public space in the mountain where we can meet new people and they normally have the best barbecues and embers. One of the most important public places to make a barbecue in Ireland is for instance the Phoenix Park which is near Dublin and there are some specifics areas to make it. Another beautiful place where we could go to make a barbecue is the Delamont County Park, located in Northern Ireland where we can make barbecues also thanks to the open barbecue areas. We want our barbecue to become a success and for this reason there are many different things to consider before making it.
- Planning: if we want that our barbecue becomes a success we shouldn’t improvise. We should plan a menu and it is recommended to add vegetables with meat. We can buy 200 grams to start such us pork sausage or blood sausage and then 250 grams per person of roast beef
- Types of barbecues: we can cook meat, fish and vegetables. If we are cooking meat we should pierce the meat to cook good inside because if we don’t do that will be raw inside and burn outside. If we cook fish or vegetables we should baste the grill so they won’t stick.
- The embers: first of all we should know how we can light the embers. We can buy charcoal tablet which it will help to light the fire. If we use charcoal it will take as long as 45-55 minutes to prepare the embers, it depends on the type of charcoal that we use. A good way to check if the embers are ready to make the food is place your hand approximately 10 centimetres off the grill and if 7 seconds after our hand have been burned it means the charcoal is prepared to make the food. Remember when we put on the food, flames must have disappeared.
- Quality of food: do not buy any meat, fish or vegetables because in a good barbecue one of the most important thing is the taste of the food so that’s a good reason to go to a market and buy the best quality food. Nowadays, in the markets we can find good value for money products.
- Beverage: there are many different drinks but especially in a barbecue the most welcome drinks are beer and wine. You are free to choose what do you want to drink but these 2 drinks are the most popular.
- Sausages: if you are a fanatic of sausages you can add anyone during the cooking but consider that not all people have the same tastes as you, for example there are people who don’t like spicy sausages. Nowadays, in the supermarket we can find a lot of barbecue sausages.
- Protect the barbecue from the wind: this is an important point to have a good time. If there is a lot of wind you can protect the barbecue by a wall but if you see it is too dangerous to make the barbecue this day do not hesitate to postpone it – safety first.
