One of the most popular things on St. Patrick’s Day is drinking a real Irish beer.
It is true that the Irish people used to drink beer, but on this day, it is an important tradition to drink or try a bit of Irish beer. It is said that “a drop of the beor” brings you luck for the rest of the year or that you might catch a leprechaun at the bottom of the glass who will grant you three wishes!! Anyway St Patrick’s Day is an important day for people from Ireland and USA, and we want to join them and live a real Patrick’s Day!
There are plenty of brands of beers, and also plenty of types of beers and it’s so difficult to keep in mind all the types and brands.
Here, you can see the 5 top of Irish Beers. You have to drink one on 17th of March and experience the old Irish tradition once per year!
Guinness
Actually is one of the most popular beers in Ireland. The Guinness Brewery is located in Dublin, at St James Gate, which is a famous landmark in Dublin steeped in History. There, you can see how the famous beer is produced. Guinness beer has a strong flavour, kind of coffee or bitter chocolate. This is because of how it is made: three of the ingredients are roasted barley, hops and brewer’s yeast. You can’t go to Ireland and Not try a Guinness pint!
Murphy’s
The Murphy’s beer is considered to be dry stout like Guinness. Although it is less strong than Guinness beer, its flavour is totally different. Murphy’s is famous for its creamy foam. People say that if you are able to draw a smile face on the foam, it’s because the waitress has poured it perfectly.
Harp
This is the best beer for people that have never tried a beer before, or that don’t really like the taste of beer, because its flavour is less bitter than Guinness or Murphy’s. Also this beer is from another type, it is a lager, and its colour is a mix between orange and yellow.
Smithwick’s
If you like sweet beer, this is probably your brand! Smithwick’s beer has a mixed flavour between sweet and molasses. You can notice the difference from its beautiful red and copper colours, which is achieved thanks to its roasted and malted barley.
Franciscan Well
The last beer of our top 5 comes from Cork. This beer is one of the cheapest beers in Ireland. It has a soft flavour, also the colour of Franciscan Well is a mix between orange and red. It is the perfect beer if you want to drink before having your lunch!
Don’t Forget! On St. Patrick day you can get a GREEN BEER! It is your beer with green colour. The flavour is the same, you won’t notice the difference, but you will get into the spirit and enjoy the Irish day drinking your favourite beer!
