It may not look like it – if you live in Ireland and pay attention to the weather- but summer is almost here. Summer means many things: sun, sea, cocktails on the beach, summer affairs, mosquitos… but most important of all, summer means summer festivals!
Ireland has many festivals to offer during the three summer months, here a selection of the most important music festivals in Dublin and Cork. You can buy the tickets on the official websites, on Ticketmaster or in the authorised retailer.
11th June – 14th July 2015
Live at the Marquee
Ready for its 10th edition, the festival brings in Cork important names of the international music scene. The festival is named after an actual marquee, built for the events in the docks of Cork, were the artists perform their songs.
The main names for this edition are Kodaline, The Coronas, John Legend, Ellie Goulding, Lionel Richie and Damien Rice.
3-6 July
Guitar festival of Ireland
The festival for classical guitar lovers. The concerts will take place in various venues in Dublin. The honour guests are “the greatest guitar duo in the world – Assad Duo” that are going to play on the 5th of July at the Mill Theatre Dundrum.

Marlay Park, Dublin
Avicii on 3rd July, and Paolo Nutini on 4th. Need I say more? The concerts will be held outdoor, with rain or sunshine.
10-11-12 July
Townland Carnival
“Ireland’s newest music festival”. 5 stages, childrens entertainment, art installations and much more. In the settings of the green countryside of Cork, the festival wants to promote Irish music, art and culture.

Longitude Festival
The program for the festival is rich, with 3 long days of international music and fun. The program for this year includes the most-loved Hozier, Alt-J, The Chemical Brothers, The Vaccines, Caribou, James Blake, Wild Beats and lots more.

Indiependence Festival
The name says it all: a festival for independent music, in the rebel county Cork. Mitchelstown is the town that host the three-day event, with a program packed of bands and artists. The main line-up is Kodaline, Basement Jaxx, The Dandy Warhols, and Ash.

Ukulele festival
Workshops, concerts and worldwide known ukulele players. The spotlight of the event is the Sunday hooley, an eight-hour-long concert featuring talents from all over the world.
