Do not miss the annual celebration of midnight on New Year’s Eve in London: an explosion of lights and colors that will light up the sky above the City for miles and miles!
The fireworks to celebrate the New Year’s Eve concentrate as many fireworks would be needed for a one hour show in 10 minutes of absolute intensity.
The appointment is on the banks of the River Thames in the Westminster area and the show is free, no tickets are therefore needed.
Big Ben will ring the twelve strokes of midnight giving a noisy and glittering welcome to 2013. After that the London Eye will offer the largest and most complex fireworks show of the year in London.
Millions of people take part to the event every year, so it’s good to take place in advance (late afternoon) if you want a special perspective!
The most-recommended observation points are Victoria Enbankment, South Bank, Waterloo Bridge, and-of course-Westminster Bridge. Starting from 8pm it will be closed, as well as Hungerford Bridge.
The fireworks will be launched from the Big Ben, from special barges docked along the river and around the frame of the London Eye.
Please note: moving around during New Year’s Eve can be difficult, as well as bridges and many Tube stations close in order to avoid the crowd.
The stations of Westminster, St James’s Park and Embankment, on the Circle Line, are usually closed from 9pm.
At the end of the show, from 11.45pm until 4.30am travel on all public transport in London will be completely free of charge.
