The festival which celebrates all things Bavarian, Oktoberfest Beag, is taking place again in Cork City this year, expecting to welcome more than 10,000 visitors over two weeks. The Oktoberfest Beag will be back in Cork for another year, from September 11th to 20th. Now in its fifth year, the festival will return to the Beamish and Crawford Brewery Site on South Main Street. Festival organiser Daryl Cronin said Oktoberfest Beag was well established at this stage and it was a “tremendous coup” for Cork to secure the event again.
“We are seeing great interest again this year from the corporate sector as well as sports and social groups, who are looking for a cost effective and fun way to entertain their staff.”
This festival aims to celebrate the many customs, culinary treats and traditions of Germany. It offers visitors to immerse themselves into German culture. The price for a tickets to the event starts at €12 but you can also choose a package lunch options, it’s sure to be a great day out. Throughout the festival there will be funfairs and traditional German music playing.
The key point of the festival is of course the German food and drink including a special Oktoberfest brew supplied by proud sponsors Paulaner Beer and imported by the keg load from Germany. There will probably be a lots of visitors from all Ireland who are waiting for that event each year .You should expect servings of traditional German food, such as Bratwurst and Schweinsbraten (slow cooked pork) with authentic German mustard, Hela curry ketchup, pickles and sauté onions, all of course to be washed down with authentic German beer and brought to your table by German Frauliens dressed in traditional dirndls.
With last year’s event attracting over 9,000 visitors, the demand means this year’s renewal promises to be bigger and better as Cork City anticipates the flocks of international and local visitors taking in a slice of German culture in a temporary home away from home.
