So you are in Cork. You arrived some time ago, and you have already experienced the vibrant night life of the Rebel City. Maybe you also have been to some trad sessions in one of the numerous pubs that host live music on different days of the week.
But, for sure, if you haven’t seen Pulses of Tradition yet, you missed the best concentrate juice of Irish culture in town.
Pulses of Tradition is an event show that runs all the Summer (June to September) every Thursday and Friday night in the Triskel Christchurch in Cork.
As the name hints, the show is about traditional Irish music. But, please, don’t think it is just limited to that: world renowned dancers will perform for you, you’ll learn about the evolution of Irish traditional music and song and you’ll watch poetic videos.
Pulses of Tradition is not only a show, it is an insight into Irish culture, music and dance.
Pulses of Tradition is suitable for non-Irish people who want to learn something more about Ireland in an engaging way; and for Irish people who will enjoy the night assisting to “not-the-usual-trad-session”.
Various members of our team have seen the show, and they found it awesome: the show is entertaining and educating. All the performers are top class, and they succeed to transmit their enthusiasm and the passion for their art to the audience.
A good sense of Irish humour is displayed all over the hour and half of the program; no wonder it has been awarded with the Certificate of Excellence by TripAdvisor.
The location chosen for the show deserves a couple of words too: the Triskel Art Centre is located in Christchurch, a pivotal place in Cork history.
In that exact point, in fact, the first Church of Cork was founded almost a millennium ago. The building visible today was erected in the 18th century in neoclassical style. The acoustics in the church are excellent and even if you have to sit on wooden benches (after all, it is still a church), the overall setting is an experience per se.

One thing is for sure: once you leave the Triskel Christchurch, you’ll be invaded by the sudden urge to learn and play the bodhrán!
