My first diving experience was one of many mixed emotions, I felt excited taking on this new adventure but at the same time I had doubts floating around inside my head such as ‘what if my equipment malfunction’s or ‘what if I drown deep under water, but gladly, to my relief my doubts were quickly put at ease when I met my PADI diving Instructor and the rest of the team. I quickly learned the safety parameters and what to do in a difficult or possibly dangerous situation within the first day! Also, the professionalism and experience of the PADI crew put me in safe hands if anything were to happen.
Once I had done the basics and learned what I needed to know, I eagerly anticipated my first dive in the deep blue. So, the day finally came and I was out on the boat with the crew ready to embark on this new experience with a couple of other beginners as well so I wasn’t alone. That’s the one thing I liked about diving you always have a buddy to dive with no matter what! When we first started to slowly descend into the water I actually got more and more excited. We eventually reached the bottom and saw nothing at first only rocks & plants but we swam only about 10 meters and the placed opened up. I started to see lots of different types of fish, crabs, and many, many starfish scattered all over the place to my surprise. The feeling of weightlessness was something like being in space and the sheer tranquillity of the experience was something else. It was an unforgettable moment for me for sure. That was my first dive for me but it certainly wasn’t my last as I couldn’t get enough of it! People were right diving is addictive!! So beware! I’m now a certified open water diver with many dives under my belt and still can’t get enough! I wanted to try new places, see different types of amazing life and meet some fun people along the way and that’s when I found Utila Dive Center in the Bay Island, Honduras, Central America.
