In January the weather guru Ken Ring announced Ireland was finally set for a long hot summer.
The forecaster from New Zealand, specialized in long-range predictions, said Ireland was going to have three largely dry months during June, July and August.
Mr Ring’s website claimed temperatures will stay above 20 degrees for most of the summer, with some days as hot as 30 degrees.
According to Mr Ring, the summer ahead “may remind people of the summer of 1995, with long dry spells, especially the first half of July”.
However, Met Éireann’s Harm Luijks poured cold water on the predictions.
“It is ridiculous. Science does not allow us to forecast more than two weeks in advance. That has not changed and it is not going to change” he said.
The first week of summer here in Ireland was quite hot, with temperatures above 20°C. Ridiculous or not, everyone here is hoping mr. Ring was right. 🙂
